Our Family

ABOUT US
Our names are Emma, Josh, and Sawyer Jane, and we are the family behind The Lady Jane Ranch.
We're a military family building a life rooted in simplicity, sustainability, and a love for animals and good food. Our journey into homesteading began when we moved to North Carolina and realized we wanted more oversight over what we were feeding our family. What started as a backyard project quickly grew into a passion for raising animals, baking from scratch, and living a hands-on, purposeful life.
Emma originally went to school for veterinary sciences before pivoting to serve in the Army. After leaving the military and learning the family would be relocating to North Carolina, she knew it was the perfect time to jump back into agriculture and start the farm she’d always dreamed of. Josh is currently active duty in the U.S. military and helps keep everything running when he's home—whether that means hauling feed, building fences, or wrangling animals. Sawyer Jane, our daughter and the namesake of the ranch, is our fearless farmhand-in-training and the heart of everything we do.
At The Lady Jane Ranch, we’re always learning, always expanding, and always working toward doing things a little better than the day before. We’re proud to share the fruits of our labor with our community—from fresh eggs and sourdough to soap, merch, and more.
THE ANIMALS WE RAISE
PIGS
We raise our pigs on pasture, where they have plenty of space to root, roam, and just be pigs. When it comes time to process, we do so with care and respect—making sure nothing goes to waste by using every part of the animal. This includes turning organ meat into healthy, homemade dog treats so even your pets can benefit from our farm's full-circle approach.
CHICKENS
We raise a happy, healthy flock of layer hens who provide us with fresh eggs year-round, roaming freely and living their best chicken lives. We also raise Cornish Cross meat birds seasonally, giving them plenty of space, sunshine, and quality feed before processing them with care—always aiming to honor the animal and minimize waste wherever we can.
TURKEYS
Our turkeys are a special part of the farm! We keep a dedicated breeding flock that provides us with fresh turkey eggs in season, which we offer for sale when available. Every spring, we incubate and hatch a small batch of their eggs and raise those turkeys on pasture with care, just in time for Thanksgiving—giving families a truly farm-raised, thoughtfully raised holiday bird.
GOATS
Our small but mighty herd of goats plays a big role on the farm. We breed them on a staggered schedule so that we can have a steady supply of fresh milk throughout the year. That milk becomes the foundation of our handcrafted goat milk soaps, lotions, and other beauty products—all made right here on the farm using natural, skin-loving ingredients.
